NETANYA Netanya is located in the centre of the Israel, stretched on 11 Km of enchanting white sand beaches. All kinds of water sports such as paragliding are possible. The only elevator to the beach in Israel - and the entire Middle East - can be found here. A beautiful promenade stretches on 8 Km along the beach. 22 hotels are situated on the cliffs and accommodate tourists from all over the world – most of them are small, family-oriented hotels. Distances Approx. (to other cities, airports, etc.): Netanya is located 95 Km from Jerusalem, 70 km from Nazareth, 100 Km from Tiberias, 33 Km from Tel Aviv, 380 Km from Eilat and 64 Km Haifa. There are 8 official lifeguard stations along the sea shore from Poleg in the south to Blue Bay beach in the north. All stations have modern facilities with showers, sheds, first-aid services and rentable deck-chairs. Netanya has a mild climate all year round - an ideal resort for tourists who come from cold countries. The city, due to its location along the Mediterranean, gets a breeze during the hot summer months, but therefore experiences mild winter months. The sea temperature can be as low as 17 degrees during the winter months Culture, History, Museum etc.: Netanya is 77 years old and its history is commemorated in a few corners of the city. The most interesting one is "Beit Habe'er" - the well house - which shows in movies and displays the first years of its history. An old sycamore tree - under which the village of Um Chaled was sold to the first immigrants - which turned it into a blossoming city, following a few years of no running water or electricity, the small village, which was based on orchards, turned into a city of diamond cutters, dealers and merchants and is now a main centre of the hi-tech industry, head offices of large companies and a significant centre for shopping for the whole area. |
